Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

does my husband have the final say

My husband wants to kick my 18 year old son out of the house, but I don't. I don't agree with what he says. myself and my son both work, my husband doesn't. do I have a legal leg to stand on if he says he wants him out and I say he's not going anywhere?

I think it would be difficult to answer this question based solely on what you say on this site, I'd highly recommend consulting with a local family law attorney about this.

This is a simple matter. Your son's residence is the family home. To kick him out, your husband must evict him through the legal process. During such process, you can tell the court that the son is living there at with your permission. The court will kick out the eviction process. Sounds like the father is a jerk (and possibly a lazy jerk).
