Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I am in Illinois. On Friday night, my son was making homicidal and suicidal threats. I called the police and they took him into custody and had him admitted into a mental hospital. I am trying to petition for the courts to keep him in longer than the 3-5 days. This is the 2nd time in a month he has been admitted for suicidal reasons. What do i need to do to have him admitted long term? My son is 22.
