Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I am the long-time girlfriend to a divorced dad who has 2 children approaching college. I will be a licensed physician shortly and my income will surpass both parents' incomes combined.

Would the Illinois courts determine my income as a "resource" when determining his parental contribution for college expenses even if we are not married?

Also, we plan on moving to another state and registering our "domestic partnership" so that my insurance covers him, would this change the courts' view on his "resources"?

As a girlfriend, it is a stretch to argue that your income should be considered. But as a domestic partner it is less of a a stretch. But the law just changed as to the cost of college. It is limited to U of Illinois unless his agreement says otherwise.
