Mom needs help against 17 yr old that is being abusive

I need help figuring out what to do with my daughter who is 17 and abusive. I have very little money and am at my wits end. She has become more and mroe abusive towards me and is setting a terrible example for her younger brothers. She has now started to tell me that she will kill me if I interfere with her in any way by telling her she has to be in by certain times or whatever. The police said I can not kick her out. When she runs away I can't do anything but let her back in to start all her foolishness again. PLease help.

Re: Mom needs help against 17 yr old that is being abusive

You indeed have a serious problem. You are advised to contact the local office of the state Dept. of Children & Family Services. Inform the intake or caseworker that you have a 17 yr old daughter who represents a threat of imminent harm to you or other members of the family, that for the best interests of the family, your daughter needs immediate couseling, monitoring by a caseworker or other specialist, and perhaps separation from the family. You do not have to stand by until she harms another member of the family. It will not be an easy process but if you really believe she represents a physical threat to yourself and her siblings, you have few alternatives. She requires help. If another family member, minister, school counseler, etc. cannot provide help, the named agency can help you. Hope the situation improves.
