Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My parents have been divorced since I was very young. My mother has had custody of me this entire time, and my father was ordered by a court to pay child support. He never paid a dime, and owes my mother at least 10 years of back child support. I am currently age 20, and want to know if it is still possible for my mother to seek the back child support she is owed, or if it is too late. If this is possible, what documentation do we need to have to go after him, if any? The child support order was created in Illinois.

Yes, absolutely. As a matter of fact, there are a variety of methods, facts depending, in which you can get all the back-owed amount in one lump sum. 10+ year arrears tend to be tens of thousands of dollars, and there is a mountain of paperwork that needs to be completed in order to get access to any eligible funds/assets/etc your father might have to satisfy the debt.

Having an attorney handle the logistics will save you months/years of needless litigation and delays.

Don't get too excited. When I prosecute these types of cases, it typically takes months or longer to get my client what they are owed. And that's with me going as fast as the court will let me. Patience is critical.
