Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

if i am separated from my husband and my parents give me a car, does it become part of marital assets and would he have claim to it or partial value of it?

Why not keep it in your parents' names? Normally a gift is not marital property as long as it is in your name only and you pay 100% for everything: insurance, gas, upkeep, garaging, tires, etc.
