Can I use a Simplified Dissolution of Marriage on an Overseas Marriage?
I live in Illinois and was wondering if me and my spouse qualify for a Simplified Dissolution of Marriage. We were married in Uzbekistan and the US recognized our marriage (we did not have to get a seperate marriage license when we moved to the states). I am a US citizen and my spouse was born in Uzbekistan but has a greencard with unconditional status . Will the fact that we were married overseas prevent us from getting a Simplified Dissolution of Marriage?

No as long as you can testify that Illinois is your residence 90 days before you file the petition.
