What do I do if I am being verbally abused by the mother of my boyfriend's child to ensure both of our protection when she comes to pick up and drop off the child?

Don't be there. She obviously resents you and probably blames you for the breakup. You're being at the pickups and dropoffs just inflames the situation. If he feels that he needs a witness to protect himself, he should take a buddy or family member with him or ask the court to set up a public exchange point.
