Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My wife left me and my child last Thursday and lied to me where she is. I just need to know how long she has to be gone to file for abandonment in Illinois. Not sure where I am going with this yet.

Abandonment is no longer a ground for divorce in IL. The only basis for a divorce is irreconcilable differences - and some argue that that has to exist for 6 months - that does not mean living separate and apart. So you can seek a divorce and "custody" of the child now.
