Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

I agreed to, just like last year, accompany a sorority at my university for a choral competition. Last year I was paid $350. When we met to exchange music this year, I asked if I would be paid the same as last year, and she said that it might be more but she had to discuss it at a meeting first. A few days later, presumably after the meeting, she texted me and told me I would be paid $500, and I agreed. Now, she claims that we agreed in person to $350 like last year, and does not recall the text message. Is there anything I can do to get the $500 I was promised? I would like to avoid court if possible, and do not have the funds to access my deleted text messages.
