Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

My daughter had an accident that she was not at fault for. She was walking down the street during a block party and she was hit by a kid on a motorized scooter. She went to the hospital and had her wound on her head glued up. Now we were given the bill for the ambulance and for the hospital bill. We didn't have insurance at the time since my wife was transitioning between jobs and regardless of that fact we feel we are not responsible for the bills. How do we make the responsible parties of this mess responsible for this?

Ask him or her, and if that fails, sue him or her (or the parents, depending on the age of the "kid").

I agree with my colleague. You, or your attorney, should make a demand for payment of the medical bills. Often, a letter from an attorney is more effective than going it alone. If this is unsuccessful, your only real course of action is to sue the responsible party, or their parent. It is always wise to discuss the specifics of your case with an attorney.
