Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

falsely accused and arrested / shoplifting

I was accused and arrested for shoplifting. There were police in the lot when the manager of the store ran out and accused me. They searched me and my car and found nothing. What are my legal options against the store and/or the police.

Re: falsely accused and arrested / shoplifting

There are no options if the store manager acted in good faith. He or she is allowed to detain a person long enough to determine whether you shoplifted.

Once the determnation was made, you were allowed to leave.
