Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Lawn Damage

I purchased an 8' x 8' shed at an estate auction. I asked before purch. about how to remove it & who would be resp. for lawn damage if any. (very rainy) Family did not care about damage. We were told to get the shed asap no matter what the weather. We did damage the lawn as well as the neighbors lawn. Now they are both after me to repair the lawn damage. The neighbors told the family the day of the auction not to come on their property to remove the shed. This info. was not revealed to anyone until after the shed was removed. Am I responsible? Who is responsible?

Re: Lawn Damage

Based on the facts presented, you are responsible for the neighbor's damage. It is your word against the seller's word concerning the damage to their lawn and to remove the shed regardless of the weather.
