Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

A lawyer called me to let me know that a company is suing me and to let me know there is a court date about this in Dec. Do I need to go since I have not been served?

Do you need to go? Yes, and file a special and limited appearance. Doing so will allow you to be there and find out what is happening and yet not be submitting yourself to the court's jurisdiction.

Look up special appearance under the Illinois Compiled Statutes or the Illinois Supreme Court Rules.
