Where to sue a defendant depends upon more than just where the parties live. The question can actually be quite complicated, and it may turn out that there are several places where you can sue. You may also have the option of suing in either state or federal court. Where you have options, of course, you will need to know how to choose the best option for you. You should discuss the details with an attorney.

Good luck.

If you sue in AZ yes you will have to go there. But you may be able to sue here in IL. In that case you probably won't have to go to AZ for anything. The defendant will have to come here.Other factors may control whether you can sue here, and also whether for reasons other than your travel convenience you want to sue here.
