You should have an attorney review the circumstances to determine whether the motion can be successfully opposed, but most likely the defendant slightly missed a deadline and is asking the court to overlook the slight default and allow the defense or challenge of the complaint. Usually this will be allowed on the theory it is better to have a matter properly decided than having someone win on a slight technical default.
