Legal Question in Immigration Law in Illinois

I just left my job and am waiting for new employers to file an H1B for me. As I am currently out of status how long do I have before I need to leave the country, how long does the company have before they need to file the H1B, they are still waiting to go through with it.

Hi,

Technically there is only a 10-day grace period in H1B status after termination of employment. During this time you should either depart the U.S., or ensure that the new employer files an H1B petition requesting extension of H1B status.
