Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Illinois

advertising with trademarked name

My wife worked at a hair salon (Fantastic Sams). She now works at another salon--in an ad she placed in paper she wrote underneath her picture (formerly from Fantastic Sams). Can she legally do this---they just called her and told her she can't because the name is trademarked----but all she is doing is mentioning where she worked previously.
