Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Illinois

If i upload music (mp3) or movies (avi, mpeg,wmv) etc. and allow people to listen/watch but do not allow them to download is this breaking any kind of law?

Yes, if it is copyrighted and you are not authorized by the copyright owner to upload. You are depriving the copyright owner of potential revenue and committing copyright infringement. Uploading is risky, and the higher the amount uploaded, the more likely you are to get caught.
