Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Illinois

I want to write a letter to an employer requesting the employer to relinquish its ownership rights so that I can patent the inventions and license them out. Where can I find examples of such letters to give me idea of how to write effectively? Thanks.

Prior to requesting a relinquishment of patent rights from your employer, it is advisable that you consult with an experienced Intellectual Property attorney to first determine whether your inventive concept is, in fact, owned by your employer as a result of your employment agreement.
