I have developed severe leg and back pain form work and have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis and now require surgery. Can I claim workmans compensation.

Yes, provided your doctor is willing to make the connection. I assume this was from years of damage? What is your occupation? If you had a tough occupation and years of damage, you can file for compensation under the Illinois Occupational Health Act. They should pay for your surgery as well as any permanency and lost wages over time.
