Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Due to IL statute of limitations, I filed a small wage claim in a local state court, but would like to change the venue. If so, is that permissible once i've filed the claim, are there any costs I'd have to pay the defendant or court in addition to the filing / service fees I've already paid. If it is available, what is the process to change venue?

Generally changing venue is up to the judge and some do and some don't grant such motions unless there is a good (statutory) reason. And usually it is something the "other side" asks for. There is no cost per se but it could run up attorney fees that, if you lose and the other side has an attorney, could cost you more. Assuming you filed in a court that was convenient for you at the time, why change unless the other side asks? If you're uncertain talk to an attorney and explain what the purpose of the change might be.
