Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Hi,

I worked for a company I really loved back in 2004 until 2005. I quit however over something stupid. I asked the assistant manager if i could come back and admitted to my mistakes but the answer was no. There was another girl who quit about 3 times and they took her back each time because she's a close friend of the main manager. Can I sue over this?

Sure, you can sue, but you will lose. There is no law that says an employer has to hire back someone who quit over something stupid. You were undoubtedly an employee at will, which means they can fire you over anything at all provided they do it legally. They can refuse to hire you back provided they are not discriminating against you over something illegal, such as racial discrimination, age discrimination, etc. Friendship with the manager is not an illegal basis on which to hire someone. Bottom line, you are SOL.
