Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

My husband works for a railroad company. He is an exempt manager. In the last year he has been forced to work 60 hour work weeks with no pay raises to compensate for the 20 hours he works over the standard 40, and in this recent work week he was informed that all exempt management must work their 12 hour shifts 7 days/nights a week indefinitely. This came from corporate. Is this legal?! I cannot seem to find clear answers but I cannot see how this is legal or fair labor practice...please help!!

Assuming he is, indeed, a manager or a professional, the relevant FLSA provisions may not apply. However, he is entitled to one day of rest in seven. Speak to an employment lawyer about what can be done.
