Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

termination

i have been discharged due to labor force reduction, my position was eliminated, by law i thought that a company had to eliminate or get rid of employees with less seniority, in my case i have 32yrs 6mo last position Plant Oper Mgr and the company kept employees with less than 3 yrs of employment, i have been offered a severance pkg of 1 week for each year of service. I want to make sure that this is fair, the company has told me that i can ask an attorney to review the agreement, i have not found someone local.

i appreciate any feedback on this issue. I am the person with the most seniority in the company and my age is 52 my record with the company is excellent. company sales have decreased by a good %

Re: termination

Depending upon the facts of the case, you may have an age discrimination claim. If you do, we could either negotiate for more severance or litigate the claim. Please provide me with your contact information to [email protected] upon receipt of this e-mail.
