can a at will employer fire you for taking a family medical leave if you are not there for 12 months

In order to qualify for leave under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), you must have worked for your employer for one year and 1250 hours. If you have not met this requirement it is not FMLA. FMLA provides "job protection" if you need the leave for any of the reasons enumerated in the act. Does your employer have sick leave or short-term disability for which you qualify?
