Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

I work in Chicago, Illinois. My employer started taking out $50 per paycheck for "escrow". I was not informed of this nor did I sign any consent allowing this. Is this legal to take escrow out of my paycheck?

What you describe sounds unusual. Illinois law allows an employer to make a deduction from your pay only if and when you provide written authorization. In most instances, the written authorization must be given at the time the deduction is made.
