Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

background checks

I applied to be added to my girl friends lease and she lives in low income housing. The management wants to contact my previous employers to verify the dates of employment and address. I signed a release form for a credit check. What information can those employers leagally give to the management?

Re: background checks

In most cases the employer is only going to give the dates of employment and if you are no longer employed then the reason why.

However, if you signed a credit check then the management has the right to pull your credit reports and even due a criminal background search.
