Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

Hi there,

I'm asking this on behalf of a friend.

Landlord is out of town for 2 weeks including the weekend in between. The landlord has the only key to the mailbox,

the mailbox is shared between the landlord and the tenants.

When the landlord returns, he found out that the mailbox had been full during his time of leave and USPS had left a note,

says that the mailbox is full and the mails had to be removed for 10 days.

The tenant is thinking to sue the landlord for mail tampering/mail interfering.

Is the landlord liable in this situation?

Thanks very much in advance!

Regards

Frank

1 Answer from Attorneys

Liable for what? Was the friend damaged in any way? If not, then just get a key.
