Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

Hi,

My tenants just moved out. When I met them to get the keys, I asked them where the Samsung flatscreen TV had gone - as it was no longer on the wall. The boyfriend said "oh, Amy (his girlfriend) didn't tell you? Oh, it stopped working so we brought it to a repair shop and they said it would be $250 to repair so we got rid of it." They never mentioned a thing and they allegedly disposed of it. I have no way of knowing whether this happened or if they took it for themselves! In addition, I noticed that the caulk in my bathroom shower was white instead of the initial clear kind I had used. When I peeled back the suspicious caulk, I saw there was a bunch of mold. It appears they "covered" it instead of telling mean about it. I realized this after already returning their security deposit. Is there any action I can take???

If they left you with a security deposit, then you may be able to replace the tv and get the mold/caulk situation repaired, but you only have a limited time period. If you have no security deposit, you will have to sue them.
