Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

Landlord trying to keep my security deposit.

I moved out 7/31/08 left the place very clean. My sec dep. was fro 2250.00 and he sent me a letter stating that i can't get it back because my damages exceed over 3000.00 which he didn't breakdown he just said i need ti replace the refrigerator and the stand back which cause water to back up and the garagre which had previous tenants stuff all in there. Now here i lived ther for three years he never fixed anything in the place it had got so bad that my basement flooded knee high and i lost about 5000.00 just alone with my furnitures down there and he sais he couldn't do anything because he basement flooded too and he didn't want to put it in his insurance because its going to go uo but to make a long story short I've repaired everything in that house and the village even came out three time to voilate him because they said I wasm't suppose to be doing all of this work when I'm only the tenant. He stated that i'm responsible for him losing a months rent.

Re: Landlord trying to keep my security deposit.

I am pretty sure that a refrigerator is not worth $3,000.00. Also, the landlord is required to provide you with itemization along with receipts within 45 days after the last day of possession. Feel free to call me and I will be happy to assist.
