Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Illinois

deflamation/responsibility

a technician c/o to HR about me (a pharmacist)for ''starred down'' on her and she felt threaten by me. this c/o is a complete surprise .

It is a Rph responsibility to oversee the workflow ,supervise the technicians to perform to ensure the safety & effectiveness of the pharmacy patient care we provide.

My manager didnot think I do anything wrong either.

the technician had been in odds with me for quite sometime.

Can someone c/o things like that to HR and how should I handle the HR when they call me in.(manager told me will have a meeting with HR)

I would like to have legal counsel to go to the HR meeting with me to prove this c/o is without merit.

but my manager told me it is not necessary.I donot want to sue my employer but just want to let the pharmacy technician know that she cannot c/o to HR for things that even not true.

please tell me how to handle this.

Hello. I understand how important a reputation is and I am certain that you want the co-worker to stop making false statements about you. In theory you could file a lawsuit against your co-worker for slander. You should definitely have legal representation with you at the human resourcces meeting. At this meeting I suggests that you do not volunteer any information, but only answer the questions that you are asked. It is very important that you handle this matter carefully and get a lawyer on board fast to protect your rights. I will be happy to discuss this with you further and in more detail.
