Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Illinois

I took my son to a beauty supply store to get his ear pierced but the guy messed up and offer to close it and come back in a week and redo it but after learning that he has no professional licence to do bodily piercing, i declined the offer. Is im able to sue?

Illinois does have a number of laws regulating tattoo and body piercing establishments, including required training and a registration fee for the "artists". You can sue but the question will be what damages you suffered - did you have to see a doctor or go to a hospital? Is your ear permanently disfigured or will you go for piercing someplace else and what was messed up will be obscured by proper piercing? DId the artist at least offer your money back? What are you looking for, because courts today generally don't award "punishment" ("punitive") damages. But you may be able to report the artist to the State as well as your local health department.
