Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in Illinois
My two bikes were stolen two weeks ago. I have registered a police complain about it. Today, I found something was riding my bicycle. I called police. They came and we have recovered both the bikes. The surgenant told she will put theft charges on that person but I won't get any further information on it. I don't know what else I need to do.

If you got your bikes back and they were ok, you're done. Frankly, if this had been in Chicago or any other major city or suburban area, you probably would never have seen them again. It sounds like the "thieves" were minors and police do have the discretion to treat offenses by minors "confidential" (called a "station adjustment"). So unless the bikes were ruined or damaged, what's your goal here?
