Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Illinois

My husband's Drs office never told us they wanted him to go see an endocrinologist because he had bloodwork come back indicating severe thyroid issues. This blood work was done in Feb...I have had 2 miscarriages since then, and 1 right before..and no physical or hormonal problems turned up on my end. I am researching and plan on going with him to his endo appointment to verify...but it looks as if what is wrong with him could have caused my miscarriages. Do I have a case against them...to at least get reimbursed for medical bills that I have incurred from this miscarriages?

You have not said anything that leads me to think that you may have a cause of action. Figuring out whether there is medical malpractice cause of action is more like a medical inquiry rather than a legal one. You say "it looks as if what is wrong with him could have caused my miscarriages." What is the basis of this opinion? If an expert medical personal has reviewed your entire chart and your husbands medical records and reports and has come to that conclusion, you may then move on to the second part of the inquiry. If that is only your gut feeling, it won't have any weight.

If the former, you will then have to see what are the damages. Medical malpractice lawsuits are so expensive than it would make economic sense to pursue one only if there is catastrophic injuries--short of that it simply does not make sense to pursue it.

All the same, you should have an in person conversation with a local attorney who will be able to give you more accurate guidance as to what to do next. Generally, the initial consultations are free and there is no obligation.

I hope this helps-
