Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Illinois

possible ob/gyn malpractice?

My wife and I just found out that she

is between 3 and 5 months

pregnant(ultrasound tomorrow to

confirm the actual maturity) and are

completely dumbfounded. She had

been on the pill for about 5 years,

and on February 5th, started the

DEPO shot. I cite the exact date,

because before getting the shot, she

was tested for pregnancy(urine) and

was told she was not pregnant.

Between then and today, we went on

a cruise, where we both did a hefty

amount of drinking, with several

weekend events consisting of a few

more drinks since then(we are both

23). She is losing her mind right

now from worrying that she might

have damaged the child, or hindered

its growth from the alcohol that she

would not have drank had she known

she was pregnant. Is there any case

here, or any details I am neglecting

to mention that may shed more light

on the issue? Thank you

Re: possible ob/gyn malpractice?

Medical malpractice

contact cases are quite complex. My initial impression is that there is a possible case. I have a number of questions of a private nature that should not be answered in a public forum such as Lawguru. Please contact me.
