Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Aggrevated assault

What type of attorney or legal advisor do I need to consult for an aggravated assault case that hasn't been looked at correctly. It's been almost a year and there hasn't been an arrest in the case. The detective on the case hasn't arrested this girl and I told him that she goes to the same college as I do. It seems to me that he could pull her student record if he wanted to.

Re: Aggrevated assault

The keyword is: "if he wanted to." The detective nor the State's Attorney's office have no obligation to press charges against anyone. If they have not done what you think they should have your case is probably either weak or not very important to the detective or the State's Attorney's office to dedicated resources for.

If you can prove the assault, you can file a civil lawsuit for assault against that person. I do not know many attorneys who will take on this sort of cases unless you are willing to put a hefty sum down as retainer.

I hope this helps,

Taradji
