Parental liability

My daughter 20 years is an insured driver on the family car. If she is involved in an accident to what extent are the parents liable to pay damages

Generally, whomever owns the car is fully responsible for anything that happens while that vehicle was being driver. If you gave permission to your daughter to drive the vehicle, you are responsible for anything that happens due to her neglect. Your insurance should cover the loss to the extent you have insurance. If the damages are in excess of the insurance policy you hold, you may be held responsible, along with your daughter to compensate for damages in excess of your policy limit.

I assume that you have insurance and have reported the incident to them--in every policy there is a clause that says, if you do not cooperate with us by reporting the accident and working with us to put a defense, we can then nullify your coverage and pay you zero.

You need to provide more facts as usually absent specific circumstances, you would not have liability.
