Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

I purchase my vehicle from a private party. Last night the same vehicle was hit by another car. The police arrested me because they said the car was "striker plated." I have had full coverage insurance since purchase, owner's title and plates for same vehicle. Is either insurance companies, mine or the other insured, responsible for the damages?

Thank you for your question. The simple answer to your question is that the party who is deemed to be at fault will have their insurance cover the damage. In many cases of this nature, the respective insurance companies will dispute the issue and ultimately settle in some form. As for the criminal arrest, that is another issue altogether.
