Legal Question in Product Liability in Illinois

Debt in My Name Not Made By Me

I want to know if I should pursue a case for a cell phone that I got for m ex-boyfriend in my name. We had an agreement that I would get him the phone and that he would pay the bill and that if I had to pay any of the bills i woul dturn the phone off. Later on that month he went out of state and ran the phone bill up making calls with the roaming fees. Now he refuses to pay the bill or speak to me and has a new cell phone. I was wondering if I would be able to sue him for the amount of money that the phone bill is because we had an oral agreement where I agreed to get him the phone as long as he payed the bills.
