Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

4.5 Year Old Caused Auto Damage

My son is 4.5 years old and jumped into a neighbor's electric go cart and crashed into the front bumper of a parked automobile (there are no sidewalks on our street). The owner of the vehicle initially declined any reimbursement for the damages (she was asked twice ''are you sure?'') saying her car was a piece of $hit and to not worry about it. 5 days later, she left a note in our mailbox stating she thought, at the time, it was mud on the front bumper but after futher examination she found it to be scratched paint and she wants us to pay for here front bumper repair ($500). She claims she had too many drinks at the time of the incident which caused her to not think rationally. We offered to pay 50% of the damage because initially she said don't worry about it. What options do we have?

Re: 4.5 Year Old Caused Auto Damage

You are responsible for the damafe if it was caused by your son. There are no options that I am aware of.
