Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Bad Appraisal

My lender sent out an appraiser. On the house appraisal It says my roof is in Good condition 1-2 years old. My roof collapsed, if insurance will not cover, do I have any legal rights because the appraisal said my roof was in good condition?

Re: Bad Appraisal

Hello. You should attempt to obtain a professional opinion as to why your roof collapsed. Depending upon what you learn, you may have a lawsuit against the appraisor and the seller. This can be tricky and it is important that you think this through carefully before you consider filing a lawsuit or reporting the matter to the Illinois Attorney General. Will be happy to answer any additional questions that you may have.
