Case File of Attorney

I want to retain another attorney. However this attorney stated he needed case file from my current attorney, who has let me know that case file is his, & no one understands it like he does. PROBLEM: How to obtain case file, and/or copies of case file notes.

Send a certified letter to the attorney discharging him and asking for your file.
