Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

condo claims for rain damage

My condo unit was damaged by water collasped ceiling, soaked carpet, buckling walls, and a water soaked mattress. Do I have a claim to repair all damages, if so who should be responsible for the damages, the condo association, the management I pay assessment.

Re: condo claims for rain damage

It depends on how the damage came to be. You don't really provide enough details to answer your question and you would best benefit from consulting a local real estate attorney experienced with condo issues to look at your situation and advise you as to the best course of action.

It sounds like the damage came from outside your Unit. If so, you probably have a good claim against the Association (who will have their insurance pay for it and go after the responsible party, if any, later).
