my husband filled out a add for a home loan modification online and i have been contacted by two different law firms one is in florida the other i am not sure. both have said we are prime canidates for this modification but their fees are outragous we are struggling now are they just fishing for clients or are these legitment offers or a scam my brother in law said that because of the government bailout the morgage companies had to work with us on a modification by law just to avoid foreclosure of the property all so i am wanting a law firm somewhere in the chicagoland area vs out of state i have had bad luck with lawyers please advise i do not want to be burned again

Hi. You really can get the modification WITHOUT an attorney. You need to contact your lender and stay on them. There's no magic, just perseverance.

I smell smoke. Your brother in law is incorrect, but many lenders would rather work with you than foreclose.
