A man owns a house. He dies and the house goes to his wife. When the wife dies does the house or a part of it go to the man's child by a previous marriage? There were no
children born of his 2nd marriage.

If the house went to the wife...like joint tenancy, then, whoever inherits from the wife is whom should get the house. Is there a will? If not there's a part of IL law that says how a persons assets are distributed if there is no will. If it's like you say it is this isn't a difficult situation to resolve. I'd like to see the house's deed for any relevant language.
