Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

My roomate left two weeks into a year long lease. She never paid ANY rent and refuses to sign off the lease for some reason unknown to me. She has been on the lease for seven months now and ive had to pay for all of it. Do i have a case against her for the year long lease and if i do what kind of evidence do i need to prove my case??

These cases can be very snaky. You never know what she might say about you, e.g. As a technical matter, I believe that you do have a cause of action for contribution. In summary, these cases can take much professional time, and you would probably pay more in professional fees than you could ever recover from your ex-room-mate. You might consider small claims court. Good Luck!
