Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

MY sisters car got keyed on sat. at my house when i was having a halloween party. I dont know who did it and when it happened. She saids if I dont give names i can be charged and they will have to contact my landlord to go through his insurance since it happened on my property. She already filed a police report.

I can't tell whose property this happened on. Was it a common area? Was this an assigned spot? Was parking allowed on the property? Was it on the street? When you say house do you mean single family home, apartment, condo? All of these things make a difference. If this is a single family home and you rent the home including the property it sits on, that's one thing because your homeowner's/renter's liability insurance may be involved. If it was part of the common area of a condo or apartment, however, then it may be her own auto insurance (comprehensive coverage) or the landlord's liability insurance. Just too many unknowns here.
