Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

I have been sued and so I'm a defendant -- do I have to file an appearance in order to be presented in court for hearing if I'm pro se?

Thanks so much.

Yes

The Appearance is you introducing yourself to the court and making a preliminary response to the accusations against you.

If you don't you loose by default.
