Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Illinois

customer sexual harassment

My friends and I frequent a bowling alley bar. I am so sorry for the language I am about to use. The bartender is always telling sexual jokes, calling women bitc---, cun-- and other offensive language and is racially discriminatory by only carding non white patrons. I remember him once telling us he divorced one of his last wives because the ''bit-- wouldn't swallow''

We have constantly complained and he still continues. Can anything be done?

Re: customer sexual harassment

Hello. If you can prove that his comments are directed toward you in your capacity as a patron and are intended to cause you emotional distress and you can prove damages, then you might have a basis for filing a lawsuit against this bowling alley bar. It will be necessary to do a considerable amount of investigation before a lawsuit like this is filed. A lawyer has to be particularly careful about filing lawsuit and should file only after making a very thorough investigation. Failure to do so can subject the lawyer and client to an Illinois Supreme Court 137 sanction which is a fine for what the court determines is a frivolous lawsuit. Will be happy to discuss this matter further and in more detail.
